I wore glasses everyday for 26 years. I tried contact lenses, but never achieved good vision due my astigmatism. I would wear them for social occasions, but if I tried to do anything more, even watch a movie, I would develop a headache.

I'm not sure when I learned about Laser Vision Correction, or LASIK, but it took me several years to make the decision. I collected as much information as possible about LASIK, searching the internet and the libraries. I spoke with people who had the surgery. I attended "free consultations" I eventually decided to have the procedure. I was then faced with the dilemma of choosing a doctor. I realized that I had to be concerned not only with the doctor's level of experience, but the type of laser as well. I knew I wanted a doctor who performed surgery on a full-time basis, and one that owned an FDA-Approved laser (not a portable or rented machine).

Eventually I looked at the price. I certainly didn't want to go to a "discount" laser center. LASIK is eye surgery, after all, and I only have one set of eyes. I was searching for an eye surgeon not some corporate chain or regional company. The surgeon I found was Dr. Frank Owczarek he is the Director and Founder of Eye Care of Delaware, the first surgical center in Delaware dedicated specifically to the eyes. he is a full time surgeon and has his VISX ( FDA Approved ) laser on-site. I was able to get appointment quickly, and not have to wait long to have my surgery.

So, now you're wondering what the outcome was... Well, today I see 20/20! My confidence has improved and my life is much easier. I can see the instructor when I'm exercising. I don't have to fumble with my glasses to run to my crying son in the middle of the night. I can wear "fun" sunglasses and if I lose them, I don't panic. I can go snorkeling and see every detail. I can garden more easly... my list goes on and on. It totally changed my life!
